Zinedine Zidane says that Real Madrid are in good shape

Zinedine Zidane says that Real Madrid are in good shape and have prepared well for the El Clasico in a fortnight.

The club managed a 4-0 win over Sevilla during the weekend. Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale were amongst the scoresheet and this result provides a huge positive to the team that has come under a lot of criticism of late. Results were initially good under the regime of Zidane, but the club has been consistently losing ground in the title race. A 1-1 draw with Malaga and a 1-0 loss against Atletico Madrid have condemned Madrid to fall 12 points behind Barcelona.
There is little possibility of Madrid being capable of crowned as the league champions.

However, the club can hope to salvage some pride in the remainder of the campaign. The first step will be to get something out of the game against Barcelona. The El Clasico will take place after the international break. The possibility of the two teams meeting each other in the Champions League still remains alive, but this will be the last El Clasico of the domestic campaign. Madrid have won the last five matches in all competitions and this is a good sign according to Zidane.

"It's a significant game because it's a special match. We have to continue improving. It's better to go into it on the back of a win. We've shown a lot with tonight's performance. We know that we're ready. It'll be a great game between two great sides. The objective is to overtake Atletico and move into second place. That's the challenge we face. We need to continue picking up points and prepare for what's coming up. That's the best way to confront the game to come.I'm very pleased with the game we put in -- from start to finish,” said Zidane.
