OZIL MOVES ON

After the sale of German playmaker Mesut Ozil, Real Madrid have come in for a lot of criticism from various quarters. The 24-year-old midfielder was one of the best players of the Madrid team, but he was sold by the club in order to raise the money to bring in Gareth Bale.

The Wales international has cost the Spanish club £ 86 million in transfer fees. Ozil has been one of the best playmakers in the world over the last five years. He has been a major reason behind Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the goals that he has done since moving to Madrid in 2009.

Ozil was sold to Arsenal in a £ 42.5 million deal on the final day of transfer window. He has since been a major hit in the Premier league by contributing all of Arsenal's goals since his move. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, though, thinks that the Spanish club have certainly not missed the presence of the 24-year-old. This comes as a strange comment considering that most of the Madrid players have come out in support of Ozil. Real Madrid have been brilliant to the season partly because of the new signing Isco, who moved to the club in the summer.

The world's most expensive player, Gareth Bale, has been unfit so far.

"Ozil has great attacking qualities but in the last two games against Galatasaray and Getafe we have played without him and we've had no problem scoring goals; we scored 10 and we could have scored 15. We are still very good going forward even without Ozil," said Ancelotti regarding the sale of Ozil. Bale has not had a proper pre-season, while he has also suffered niggling injuries in the last few months. This could postpone the effectiveness of the 24-year-old, who is expected to play against Atletico Madrid.
