Real boss pleased with Sahin boost

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho believes Nuri Sahin will have regained confidence after finding the net during his side’s 5-1 thrashing of Ponferradina.

Sahin joined the Spanish club from German side Dortmound during the summer, but has suffered from injuries problems and has been unable to win a first team place.

However, he took his chance midweek, netting on of his side’s five goals as Real completed a 7-1 aggregate victory in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey.

Speaking after the match, Mourihno said: “The good things that [Sahin] does will only help him in his process of recuperation. The goal and the assist are vital for his confidence," the trainer told reporters in the post-match press conference.”

The Portuguese coach also expanded on recent comments about La Liga which had sparked a minor controversy.

He had previously told reporters his side would win any other league in the world, with some suggesting his was casting aspersions on domestic Spanish football.

However, he explained that what he had meant is that while Real are one of the best teams in the world, they are competing with Barcelona who also fall into that bracket. Anyone who follows the best online Champions League betting will know this.

Because of this, his comments were meant to praise both Real and Barca, rather than criticise anyone in anyway, Mourihno added.

The former Chelsea boss will be looking to snatch Barcelona’s Champions League crown away from them this season and his side will face CSKA Moscow when the knockout stages begin.
