RONALDO WANTS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo has said that he wants to lift the 10th Champions League title for the club next season. Real Madrid are the most successful club in the history of European football having won the European Cup/Champions League an incredible nine times in their history.

However, their last title was back in 2002 and the once again failed to win the trophy this time around. They, however, have come extremely close to reaching the final after being knocked out in the semifinals of the competition in the last two seasons. First, Real Madrid suffered at the hands of Barcelona in the previous season, while they were knocked out by Bayern Munich on penalties this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo signed for the club in the world record fee of £ 80 million, but he is yet to win the Champions League title that he won with Manchester United prior to leaving the English club. Now, the Portuguese has said that he is extremely confident that the club can overcome the European drought that they have suffered in the last decade. He has said that he is confident that they will take the next step under manager José Mourinho, who has recently extended his contract by two more seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"My objective is to win Real Madrid’s 10th European Cup title. Everyone talks about the Champions League in Madrid and we players feel it is very important for the country and the people. We’ve been close this year and we need many things to succeed, such as luck and good teams in our group. The 10th trophy is coming next year or the next. People always focus on the Champions League because it is one of the best tournaments. I’m sure we’ll win it eventually," Cristiano Ronaldo stated to reporters.
