James Rodriguez Only Concentrating on Doing Well Each Game

James Rodriguez says that he is only concentrating on doing well whenever he is given the opportunity.

The Colombian international was linked with a move away from Real Madrid during the January transfer window. He did not seem to be in the plans of manager Zinedine Zidane, despite having cost the club an incredible £ 75 million from Monaco during the regime of Carlo Ancelotti. He has featured in only 13 league matches this season. However, he played a crucial role in the club’s 4-1 win over Eibar during the weekend. Rodriguez came up with a brilliant goal in the second half to provide a convincing look to the score.

Out of the 13 league matches, Rodriguez has started only six. During the weekend, he was given a rare outing in the first team as a result of the club focusing on the midweek Champions League game with Napoli. It was widely believed that Real Madrid decided to keep Rodriguez in January as a result of a transfer ban which prevented the club from signing new players.

However, the ban will be lifted in the summer and Madrid will once again be able to make signings. It remains to be seen if Rodriguez still remains at the club, but Chelsea still retain an interest in the 25-year-old.

"When I am given opportunities, I always try and do well. This is all I think about. I want to always be here [at Madrid]. It's clear that in life and football you never know what is going to happen but I want to remain here," said Rodriguez. Rodriguez has been playing brilliant football in the last two games, but it is highly likely that he will be dropped for the Champions League match against Napoli. Real Madrid come into the game with a 3-1 advantage over the Italian club.
