Ally McCoist believes Paul Pogba would suit Real Madrid

Rangers legend Ally McCoist believes Paul Pogba could pursue a potential move to Real Madrid at the end of the current campaign. The France international has looked far off from the player he was at former club Juventus, with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reluctant to play him in a three-man midfield.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, McCoist feels there is a sense of disappointment ringing around the United hierarchy with the Frenchman struggling to put in consistent performances. Pogba was allowed to feature on the left side of a 4-3-3 formation on a couple of occasions this term, but the arrival of Alexis Sanchez has meant that the club have stuck with a 4-2-3-1 setup to slot the Chilean in the left-wing role.

McCoist said: "I think United would bite their hand off. He definitely doesn't look comfortable playing in that (two-man midfield) position at this moment in time. Clearly, he is not doing well and Mourinho has to be concerned about his level of performance."
"Where he had success he had a free role and freedom to play in that manner and I definitely think that is where he would be able to express himself and you would get the best out of him. At this moment in time, United are absolutely not getting the best out of him. I think going to Real Madrid could be a deal that suits all parties."
Pogba had previously attracted interested from the European champions during the summer of 2016, but he chose to make an emotional comeback with United for a then-record fee of £89m. Things have since not gone as planned and according to reports, Los Blancos could pounce on his signature at the end of the current season.
Zinedine Zidane's are said to be planning a £534m spending spree for the summer, and it is suggested that the club could cough up a fee in the region of £120m in order to tempt United into doing business for their once academy graduate.
