REAL MADRID DEALT BIG INJURY BLOW
Real Madrid have been handed a big injury blow following the news that first choice right-back Dani Carvajal will miss the rest of the season with a hamstring problem.
Carvajal picked up the hamstring problem during the Chelsea game on Tuesday night and has now been ruled out of the return leg at Stamford Bridge next week Wednesday. The Spanish international will miss the Champions League final at the end of next month if Real Madrid manage to see off Chelsea at the end of their semi-final tie. In addition, Carvajal will also miss the remaining five matches in the league.
Real Madrid and Chelsea met at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium in Madrid two days ago for the first leg of their last four tie. At the end of proceedings, the two teams recorded one goal apiece to leave the tie in the balance ahead of the second leg next week. The two goals were scored in the first half.
Christian Pulisic scored the goal for Chelsea on 15 minutes to become the first American to score in a Champions League semi-final . Frenchman Karim Benzema replied the Blues with a fantastic equaliser just before the half hour mark.
Real Madrid will have to score in the second leg to have a chance of going through as a goalless draw would be enough to see Chelsea through to their third Champions League final.
Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla and Real Madrid are all in the La Liga title race with five games left to play. As things stand, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are in a better position than Barcelona in third place and Sevilla in fourth position. Atletico Madrid are the team to beat at the moment and they have a two-point lead over Real Madrid, while Barcelona and Sevilla are also two and three points adrift in the title race with five games left to play.
