Benitez is at risk of getting axed unless some changes happen
Real Madrid’s first league match of the season concluded in a goal-less draw as they faced off with Sporting Gijon on August 23 and this also was the first game that had Rafael Benitez as the coach of the Spanish team.
This was not the best way for Rafael Benitez to kick-off his managerial career in the Santiago Bernabeu. You have to take into consideration that the Spanish manager was selected to replace Carlo Ancelotti who was able to lift the Champions League and the Kings Cup in his first season.
That opening match of the season was played 4 months ago and now taking a look at how Real Madrid is doing right now and they aren’t doing disastrously but the amount of points which they have dropped in these past few weeks is something that has begun to trouble the fans as well as the owner of the club.
Real Madrid’s latest 5 matches have seen them losing 3 games which were against Sevilla, Barcelona and Villareal. These defeats have allowed Barcelona and Athletic Madrid to get ahead of them in the La Liga standings.
Rafael Benitez is believed to not have a positive relationship with his players as each day passes on; there are new reports which emerge claiming that tension is starting to build due to more players getting frustrated by the methods of the Spanish manager.
The main objectives that Florentino Perez wants to see Rafael Benitez achieve are to win or at least make a charge for the Champions League title as well as the La Liga silverware but Florentino Perez does not necessarily have to wait until the end of the season to see if Real Madrid is able to win any major title, the future of Rafael Benitez in the Santiago Bernabeu will be decided before the season reaches it’s end but its not looking good right now.
There already is a list of possible candidates that are being rumored on taking up the managerial position if Rafael Benitez does get sacked and this list includes the likes of: ZinedineZidane and Jose Mourinho.
