Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo could potentially demand an exit from Real Madrid, should Kylian Mbappe arrive at the Bernabeu this summer.

The European champions are desperate to get their hands on the Monaco forward this summer with sources suggesting that the club could pay up a world-record of £161m.

According to DiarioGol, the Euro 2016 winner will consider a potential switch elsewhere, if Mbappe threatens his position of being the main man for Los Blancos. Ronaldo has guided his club to three Champions League titles in the last four seasons, and he feels that the deal for Mbappe could lessen his importance in the lineup.

Ronaldo is currently on an extended rest following his Confederations Cup exploits with Portugal, and he is not expected to return until the double-legged El Clasico in the Spanish Super Cup starting August 13th. Earlier last month, the 32-year-old was alleged to have dodged paying taxes to the Spanish authorities, but the matter has been solved, according to Zinedine Zidane, who insists that the forward is content at the Bernabeu.

He said: "I only believe in one thing - whenever I've spoken to him, he has been very relaxed. He's on holiday and he will be back with us on the fifth [of August]. I listen, just like everyone else, but the only thing I'm concerned with is what he wants to do with Real Madrid. He'll be here with us on the fifth and I think he'll stay for the next two or three years he's got left with us."

Despite a patchy start last season, Ronaldo managed to make amends in the second half of the campaign as he helped Real Madrid to their first Champions League and La Liga double since 1958. He ended the season with 42 goals across all competitions including a brace in the Champions League final against Juventus at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
