POWER SHIFT IN SPAIN

It seems that the balance of power is finally shifting in Spain. It did not seem to be realistic when Real Madrid were leading Barcelona by a slender three points, but after the weekend Real Madrid have extended their lead to a massive six points, which will prove extremely crucial as the season progresses.

Barcelona seem to be lacking in desire as they struggle to retain their title, after having won it three times on the bounce. The exact opposite seems to be happening at the Santiago Bernebeu, with the players growing in hunger and stature and responding to the tactics of José Mourinho.

Mourinho was criticised a lot for failing to win the League in his first season, but he is proving that he still has the charisma that led him to the Premier League and Serie A titles.

The 1-0 loss that Barcelona suffered was a shock, but it would have been an even bigger shock had Real Madrid lost against their archrivals Atletico Madrid. José Mourinho and his tactics not only prevented that from happening, but helped Real Madrid register a 4-1 victory over their city rivals. It once again reiterates the fact that José Mourinho's sides always have a winning mentality, and not always through playing drab football - Real Madrid have been playing all the attacking football this season, with Barcelona catching up at every stage of the season so far.

Exactly 12 months ago, Barcelona managed to beat Real Madrid by five goals at the Camp Nou. José Mourinho will consider the six-point advantage that his side has over Barcelona as the perfect revenge for it. After the win, Mourinho said, "We played well. We were ambitious and motivated, and we controlled the game and our emotions well. We must now be patient and stick to our vision. Sadly, at some point our winning streak will eventually come to an end."

Barcelona and Real Madrid meet each other on December 10th.
