REAL READY FOR CSKA

Real Madrid are ready to face CSKA Moscow in the last 16 of the Champions League according to their manager José Mourinho.

Real Madrid come into the match after having kept their lead intact in the Spanish domestic league.

Real Madrid are currently the table toppers in the Spanish la Liga, as they have a healthy 10 point advantage over Barcelona, who are in the second place. There may be suggestions that Real Madrid have been extremely outstanding this season, but the fact of the matter is that Barcelona have been poor in the league this season. Real Madrid have the same number of points that they had at this stage last season, whereas Barcelona are down by 10 points.

As a result, many as saying that Real Madrid's true strength will be displayed only in the Champions League. They will be facing Russian club CSKA Moscow in the last 16 of the Champions League. One of the biggest hurdles Real Madrid face between them and the quarter-final stage of the Champions League is the subzero temperatures in Russia at the moment.

Further, Real Madrid will be playing on the artificial pitch of the Luzhniki stadium, which was the venue for the 2008 Champions League finals. Despite the obstacles, José Mourinho has expressed his confidence by saying that he feels that Real Madrid are ready to take on CSKA Moscow.

“We need to now focus on the match against CSKA. Everyone’s happy (with our play), we have two days to recover now and we’re a happy group. We’ve got a long trip ahead … but our motivation is high even though we know it won’t be easy in Moscow,” Madrid coach Jose Mourinho said prior to the match in Moscow. Real Madrid will have Kaka in the best of his form for this match.
