WHY BENZEMA COULD LEAVE REAL MADRID

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema could reportedly leave the club if the Spanish La Liga leaders sign Norwegian international striker ErlingHaaland from German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund. This is according to the report from Spanish publication El Nacional. It was disclosed that the 34-year-old Frenchman is considering the idea of a Real Madrid exit after 13 years at the club. Benzema has been at Real Madrid since he joined from French giants Lyon.

Benzema has been in very good form for Real Madrid since the start of the season in the Spanish La Ligaas the 13-time European champions look to reclaim the title from city rivals Atletico Madrid. The French international has contributed 17 goals and seven assists in the league this season.

Real Madrid talisman Benzema is said to be unhappy with the pursuit of both ErlingHaaland of Borussia Dortmund and KylianMbappe of French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) as revealed by the abovementioned media outlet. It was stated that the Frenchman could look for a way out of the club instead of being a bit-part player if Mbappe and Haaland join Real Madrid this summer.

The attacking duo of Haaland and Mbappe have been seriously linked with a move to Real Madrid ahead of this summer's transfer window. Frenchman Mbappe has less than six months on his PSG contract and he could join Real Madrid for free in the summer considering that the Spanish giants had a fee of €200m turned down for the player last summer when he had one year left on his current deal at the Parc des Princes.

Benzema has a Real Madrid contract that does not end until 2023 and club president Fiorentino Perez is keen to the him down to a new deal. The 34-year-old has not accepted a serious of contract offers from Real Madrid. PSG could be keen on signing Benzema especially if compatriotZinedineZidane takes over from Mauricio Pochettino as manager at the Parc des Princes.
