Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid ended their three-match winless streak in style after they hit Ukrainian giants Shakthar Donetsk for five in their Champions League Group D clash on Tuesday night. It was an impressive performance for Real Madrid as they took their revenge on Shakthar Donetsk who defeated them home and away in the group stage of the same competition last season.
Real Madrid were on a five-match winning run in all competitions until they met Europa League holders Villarreal in a league game last month. They were forced to a goalless draw at home by the Yellow Submarines and that game was the start of their three-game winless run. The Villarreal result was followed by the shocking 2-1 Champions League loss at home to Moldovan club FC Sheriff Tiraspol. The same scoreline was then recorded in the away game against newly promoted side Espanyol just before the international break.
